4 Important Steps You Need to Know when Applying Travel Permit during CMCO

As various districts have announced CMCO following the increase in COVID-19 cases, movements to and from these restricted areas have come under strict control. The public have been ordered to stay at home or work from home unless necessary.

However, if you do need to travel interstate or inter-district for any emergency during CMCO, here’s how you can apply for a travel permit from the police (PDRM) before starting your journey. It’s actually pretty quick and easy!

Who needs to get their travel permits verified by PDRM?

On 13th October 2020, PDRM have clarified via an announcement post on their Official Facebook Page, that these four categories of people would need to fill up a ‘Permit Pergerakan Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan Bersyarat’ (PKPB Travel Permit) form, and get it verified at the nearest police station:

  1. Individuals from areas where CMCO is implemented and need to go to other states due to emergency reasons (sickness or death).
  2. Individuals who want to cross areas that are implementing CMCO for emergency reasons.
  3. Individuals from outside who want to enter areas which are implementing CMCO due to emergency reasons.
  4. Individuals who are travelling by air using KLIA, KLIA 2 and Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport.

How to apply and get the travel permit verified by PDRM?

The process to verify the travel permit at PDRM is pretty quick and straightforward, provided that you have all the necessary documents ready at hand for the authorities.

Do note that you are required to get your travel permit verified BEFORE you begin on your journey to your destination.

Step 1: Download and fill up PKPB travel form

There are a few ways that you can obtain the PKPB form:

  1. Download it from the Royal Malaysia Police’s official portal here;
  2. Download it from PDRM’s Official Facebook page here;
  3. Request a hard copy from any nearest police station.

Fill up the form with the required information, such as the reason of travel, date and time of travel, your destination address and other personal information. Remember to sign the form.

Step 2: Prepare relevant supporting documents

You will also have to prepare relevant supporting documents that provide proof for the reason of your travel, for example company  letter from employer, if applicable.

Do also attach photocopy of your IC for identification purposes.

Step 3: Make a photocopy of your application documents

After completing the above steps, you should make another set of photocopied documents – one set for your own safe-keeping and to take along during your journey, and another set for PDRM records.

Step 4: Get your travel permit verified

The last step is to get your travel permit form and supporting documents verified by the officer-in-charge at the nearest police station.

Once your travel permit is officially verified, you can depart on your journey. If you absolutely need to travel during CMCO, we urge that you always abide by the safety and health SOPs that have been set by the government.

A quick reminder before you depart: ONLY 2 PERSONS are allowed to travel in one vehicle. Each traveller MUST have his / her own individual verified travel permit.

Drive safe, stay safe and stay healthy!
